Projects & Achievements

Cancer Screening and Secure Messaging

Train IT Medical co-branded with NSW Cancer Institute and developed a suite of online eLearning modules to support an electronic Pap test reminder system.  This was a professional challenge for Katrina as it saw her develop her instructional design and eLearning knowledge and technical skills.

We are excited to be involved with the NSW Cancer Institute and this project fits perfectly with Train IT Medical’s goals to:

1)  improve practice processes for recalls and reminders, preventive health/cancer screening

2) eliminate the need for scanning in medical practices

3) help practices realise the benefits of eHealth

4) save time for busy clinicians

The NSW Cancer Institute free eLearning course is now live and will be available for most NSW medical practices with ongoing support provided by Train IT Medical.

HealtheNet

Katrina accompanied the NSW Government eHealth HealtheNet team on a NSW training road-show delivering the good news that NSW Public Hospitals are now connected to the National eHealth Record System.

From an eHealth training perspective, having hospitals connected this year this has been a game-changer;  safety and time-saving benefits. Test results and advanced care directives are expected in 2016!

The National eHealth Record / My Health Record / PHNs

In 2015 Katrina began consulting to the National eHealth Transition Authority (Nehta), keen to share 3 years of eHealth feedback gained from training thousands of clinicians across Australia. Katrina is currently working on a number of large scale eHealth projects at the moment, particularly in Western Australia.

The opt-out trial site in the Nepean Blue Mountains area will be a particular focus for 2016 – watch this space!

Katrina is looking forward to working with the PHNs to offer training and support services.

Feedback leads to Improvements

We feel we are in a very privileged and unique position working across the range of health services (in city, suburban, rural and remote areas) and training a wide range of medical software products. We hear feedback daily from doctors, nurses and practice administration staff on most aspects of health IT and medical practice life and we hear a lot of health IT ‘enhancement requests’. Our philosophy is that, by sharing our collective thoughts and experiences, we can build the best health system and health IT.

In particular this past year Katrina has provided ongoing feedback and consultancy services for:

  • Software Vendors (including new and emerging providers)
  • 3rd party health IT product developers
  • Many of the peak bodies
  • Nehta
  • Avant Mutual Group
  • Department of Health

We thank you for sharing what works for you and what you would like changed and please know we take every opportunity to share your enhancement ideas and experiences (with anyone who will listen really) to effect positive change.

We are often saying we aren’t actually the ones who come up with all the time-saving efficiency improvements, we just see, hear and share!

Free Resources

In this spirit of sharing with practices we have also increased our ‘Free downloads’ on the Train IT Medical website – a popular resource for many practices and practice service providers. We will be enhancing and updating the website further in 2016.

We have also increased our blogging and hope these too will be effective free learning resources. When we hear a topic many practices are talking about or struggling with, we will blog about it. Our blogs  aim to provide practical tools for practices and minimise confusion in this era of constant technology changes and options.

Recent topics include:  secure messaging, eHealth and online appointments. Thank you to all those who have provided input and feedback.  Click here to join our mailing list.

More changes for 2016

Plus there are new versions of MedicalDirector Clinical, PracSoft and Best Practice Software – with major changes – due early in the new year.

With Health IT now a significant factor in daily medical practice life one of our business goals is to take some of the pressure off you. Please know we are here to help.

Thank you to all our long-term and new clients for a wonderful year. We look forward to seeing you in 2016.

Merry Christmas to you all.
